Sunset Birding at the Meadows - Friday, September 27th, 2013

A good variety of ducks with many Mallards, a few Gadwall, American Wigeon, Northern Shoveler, Northern Pintail, and both Teal. Waders included Great Blue Heron (one standing on the beach with Gulls!), Great and Snowy Egrets. Still some shorebirds around, Semipalmated Plover and Sandpiper, Least and Pectoral Sandpiper, and both Yellowlegs. The beach had 4 Lesser Black-backed Gulls. The highlight was the perched Great Horned Owl in great light. Leaders: Karl Lukens, Chuck Slugg, Kathy Horn, Roger Horn, Carrie Bell, Deb Payson, and Jesse Amesbury.
