Sunset Birding at the Meadows - Friday, September 20th, 2013

Duck numbers are increasing and included Mallard, Gadwall, and Blue-winged and Green-winged Teal. Many waders were present, mainly Great and Snowy Egrets, and Glossy Ibis. A few shorebirds were present including Semipalmated Plover, Killdeer, Lesser Yellowlegs, as well as Least and Solitary Sandpiper. There were lots of gulls and terns including three Lesser Black-backed Gulls on the beach. We had great scope views of a perched Great Horned Owl, and finally just after sunset a Sora. Leaders: Karl Lukens, Chuck Slugg, Kathy & Roger Horn, Catherine Busch, and Jesse Amesbury.
