Sunset Birding at the Meadows - Friday, August 23rd, 2013

A cloudy evening but some good shorebirding. Lots of Semipalmated and Least Sandpipers, with a few of both Yellowlegs, Semipalmated Plover, and at least one Pectoral Sandpiper. Also Great and Snowy Egrets and a couple of Glossy Ibis. The beach had the usual American Oystercatchers, and an estimated 300 Black Skimmers. An added treat were 3 Common Nighthawks flying about snagging insects, and a perched Great Horned Owl scoped in the far tree line. Leaders: Karl Lukens, Chuck Slugg, and Carrie Bell.
