Birding the Meadows with Pete Dunne - Monday, August 19th, 2013

A cloudy morning with fewer birds than usual. Waders included Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, and Glossy Ibis. Shorebirds included Semi-palmated Sandpiper and Plover, Killdeer, Short-billed Dowitcher, Least and Spotted Sandpiper, both Yellowlegs, and White-rumped Sandpiper. The beach had Black Skimmer, American Oystercatcher, Sanderling, Ruddy Turnstone, at least 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull, and 4 fly-over Brown Pelicans. Swallows were on the move and Indigo Bunting and Orchard Oriole were also seen. Leaders: Pete Dunne, Karl Lukens, Janet Crawford, Hugh Simmons, Catherine Busch, Mike Hannisian, and Shaun Bamford.
