Birds of Belleplain State Forest - Thursday, April 5th, 2012

A sunny chilly start and the birds were somewhat quiet. We eventually did get to hear and see a Louisiana Waterthrush, and heard several Yellow-throated Warblers. Lots of Chipping Sparrows, and a couple pairs of Eastern Phoebes. Downy and Red-bellied Woodpeckers were in several areas. Good looks at 1 tom and 4 hen Wild Turkeys. A scoped Wood Duck sitting in a tree was nice. Leaders: Jim Armstrong, Karl Lukens, Bert Hixon, Patty Rourke, and Chris Marks.
