Birding the Meadows with Pete Dunne - Monday, October 7th, 2013

Some good ducks were present including Blue-winged Teal, Mallard, one Black Duck, and offshore several flocks of Black and Surf Scoters. A couple of Caspian Terns circled overhead. There were numerous Great and Snowy Egrets, Glossy Ibis, and a Great Blue Heron. The beach had many gulls with at least two Lesser Black-backed Gulls and an offshore Parasitic Jaeger. Raptors included Sharp-shinned, and Cooper's Hawks, and one AmericanKestrel, two Merlin, and three Peregrine Falcons. Shorebirds were present, mostly Pectoral and Semipalmated Sandpipers, Killdeer, and one juvenile American Golden-Plover. Leaders: Pete Dunne, Karl Lukens, Chuck Slugg, Steve Weis, Catherine Busch, Janet Crawford, and Mike Hannisian.
