Birding the Meadows with Pete Dunne - Monday, September 30th, 2013

Good weather and good birds on this morning's walk. Lots of ducks including American Wigeon, Northern Pintail, both Teal, and of course Mallards, as well as a Black Duck. Lots of Snowy Egrets and a few Great Egrets. Shorebirds included Killdeer, Semipalmated Plover and Sandpiper, Least and Solitary Sandpiper, and both Yellowlegs. Among the many usual gulls on the beach were at least three Lesser Black-backed Gulls. Overhead there were a few Sharp-shinned and Cooper's Hawks, Osprey, as well as Northern Flickers and Blue Jays.  Leaders: Pete Dunne, Karl Lukens, Chuck Slugg, Steve Weis, Janet Crawford, Catherine Busch, Carrie Bell, and Mike Hannisian.
