Birds of Belleplain - Thursday, May 22nd, 2014

A cloudy, misty morning but some good birds here and there. Great looks at a pair of Summer Tanagers calling pik-i-tuk near a partially built nest and also, in another area, a bi-colored first year male. We also had nice looks at a male Scarlet Tanager singing, and several Yellow-billed Cuckoos. A good view of Blue-gray Gnatcatchers building a nest, and a Wood Thrush on nest. Other birds of interest were Blue Grosbeak, Indigo Bunting, and Prairie Warbler. A number of other warblers were heard but not seen. Leaders: Bert Hixon, Shaun Bamford, and Karl Lukens.
