A Meadows Afternoon - Friday, May 23rd, 2014

The late afternoon light and broad mudflat edges made for some spectacular looks at shorebirds during today's Meadows walk. Dunlin, Short-billed Dowitchers, Semipalmated Plovers and Semipalmated Sandpipers were close and plentiful, allowing for good comparisons. Least, Forster and a single Common Tern were seen and two American Oystercatchers appear to be nesting on the beach. Leaders: Kathy Horn, Warren Cairo, and Hugh Simmons.
