Birding the Meadows with Pete Dunne - Monday, May 12th, 2014

A nice start to a nice day, with perched and singing Blue Grosbeak and Orchard Oriole. Many Common Yellowthroats singing and several seen well including a pair. Several American Oystercatchers are nesting on the beach, a Common Loon in breeding plumage, and a late Red-throated Loon off shore. Waders included an adult Little Blue Heron, and Glossy Ibis. Lots of shorebirds with the water level going down. Those seen were Short-billed Dowitchers, Semipalmated Plover and Sandpipers, Least Sandpipers, and both Yellowlegs. Leaders: Karl Lukens, Chuck Slugg, Steve Weis, & Janet Crawford.
