Birding the Meadows with Pete Dunne - Monday, May 26th, 2014

Nice birding day starting at the parking lot with singing Blue Grosbeak, Indigo Bunting, and both Baltimore and Orchard Orioles. Waders were also good with Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Little Blue Heron, Glossy Ibis and a fly-over Tricolored Heron. Still lots of shorebirds around including Semipalmated Plover and Sandpipers, Least Sandpipers, both yellowlegs, Dunlin, Willet and many Short-billed Dowitchers. Best of all was the appearance of Two adult Virginia Rails with at least five tiny black chicks! Leaders: Karl Lukens, Chuck Slugg, Steve Weis, Catherine Busch, and Marc & Lynne Breslow.
