Spring Migrants at the Rea Farm - Saturday, April 27th, 2013

A beautiful birdy kind of day. Started with a perched, singing male Blue Grosbeak with good scope views. Waders included Snowy Egret, and 6 perched Black-crowned Night-Herons. Raptors were a Red-tailed Hawk, Cooper's Hawk, several Kestrels, and  a perched Merlin. Near the ponds were 1 Solitary Sandpiper, and 4 Wilson's Snipe. Warblers included Common Yellowthroat, Yellow-rumped, Prairie, and a singing and finally seen Prothonotary Warbler. Highlight was a good look at Red-headed Woodpecker. Leaders: Karl Lukens, Kathy & Roger Horn, Warren Cairo, Claudia Burns, and Catherine Busch.
