A Meadows Afternoon - Friday, April 19th, 2013

Intermittent fog and strong winds kept the songbirds down, but the group got good looks at our remaining ducks, breeding plumage Great and Snowy Egrets, a newly arrived Green Heron, and both Yellowlegs.  We watched a Lesser Black-backed Gull bathing until it emerged from the water to show us its bright yellow legs. On the beach, pairs of American Oystercatchers carried on their pre-nesting behavior despite the buffeting winds, and close Northern Gannets flew by ahead of the coming storm. Leaders:  Warren Cairo and Catherine Busch.
