Sunset Birding at the Meadows - Friday, July 5th, 2013

Nice evening for birding without the heat of the day. Shore birds were present indicating some fall migration. We saw 2 Willets, 6 Least Sandpipers, 4 Short-billed Dowitchers, and 7 Greater Yellowlegs. One of the remaining Piping Plovers was also seen. On the beach we had 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull, as well as Royal, Forster's and Common Terns, Black Skimmers, and a few Least Terns. The latter's nesting on the beach seemed to have failed. Leaders: Karl Lukens, Chuck Slugg, and Jesse Amesbury.
