The weather gods gave us a break in that it rained before and after our walk, but not during it. The weather, however, was apparently threatening enough that a relatively small group appeared for both CMBO's photo walk as well as for its bird walk. Thus we combined forces. Not surprisingly, for this time of year, many of our common birds were in less than striking plumages, especially our ever present Mallards. However, our dragonfly population has begun to explode including such regulars as the Halloween and Four-spotted Pennants. I am always amazed by the large numbers of the latter as we are near the northern limit of the species' range. There were also a number of other subjects for shooting, including a very cooperative Bull Frog and many, many Eastern Cottontails. The forecast is for an unsettled weather week, but next Saturday, at least at this point, is looking good.
