Sunset Birding at The Meadows - Friday, September 4th, 2015

We saw the fledged Osprey juvenile still being fed by its parents as we started the walk. We next saw the Baird's Sandpiper which has been present for two weeks along with other shorebirds such as Buff-breasted Sandpiper, Semipalmated Sandpipers and Plovers, Least Sandpipers, Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, Short-billed Dowitchers, Killdeer, and Sanderlings. A Peregrine Falcon caused all the shorebirds to lift into the air. There were a number of American Oystercatchers with fledged chicks and a large number of Forster's Terns flying east along the beach. Leader: Chuck Slugg.
