Another hot and humid Wednesday morning greeted us as we headed out to explore Cape May Point. It was a quiet walk down to the beach but we were rewarded with a great chance to study adult and juvenile Great Black-backed Gulls, Herring Gulls, Laughing Gulls, Foster's Terns, & Common Terns. A close, flyby Brown Pelican was an added bonus. We flushed a juvenile, female Cooper's Hawk from a hedgerow and she flew so low over our heads that it was hard to focus on her at first! A final stop at the Hawkwatch Platform inside Cape May Point State Park afforded us looks at a juvenile Green Heron, Lesser Yellowlegs, and a Northern Shoveler. Leaders: Margeaux Maerz, Chris Marks, & Mike Crewe.
