Another lovely evening for a walk in The Meadows. Before we left the parking lot we had a Bald Eagle, a Merlin eating a dragonfly, and an American Kestrel. As we started on the trail, two Merlins burst through the shrubs flushing a group of House Sparrows. On the mudflats we had a mixture of sandpipers including Solitary, Least, and Semipalmated along with Semipalmated Plover, Killdeer, and Lesser Yellowlegs. A variety of ducks have come in including Blue- and Green-winged Teal, Northern Shovelers, Black Duck, and Gadwall. We had a single Black-bellied Plover on the beach which was still in almost breeding plumage with some Sanderlings.
