Photo Walk - Saturday April 9th 2011

After consecutive weeks of mostly sun, this Saturday's walk began in sun which quickly was subsumed by a solid overcast. To state the obvious, photography is all about light and, unfortunately, many think that this means that nature photography needs sun. As today's images show, sun can produce good images, but when the sun disappears good photos can still be created. The trick is to change your approach. For example, try to shoot subjects against a background without the sky. The result, as we found during this walk, is often richer tonalities, especially with very dark subjects.
