Mike Hannisian reports: The very heavy wind this Saturday caused virtually all of the land birds to lay low. As a result, we went to the west end of Sunset Boulevard where a near constant stream of Northern Gannets was flying by rather close to shore. Also present were a number of Red-throated Loons and Double-crested Cormorants which seemed wholly oblivious to the weather.
Northern Gannets gave plenty of opportunity to be photo-creative on Saturday morning..
...as did this line of Double-crested Cormorants, pausing for a break in the windy conditions.
