Photo Walk - Saturday, March 31, 2012
As has been the norm for the last two months, this Saturday dawned gray and moist. However, the heavy rain of a couple of hours earlier had moved on, and the birds put on a good show. Not only were the old reliables around, such as American Coots and Northern Mockingbirds, but we had a cooperative Great Egret perched atop a Red Cedar, American Oystercatchers and Canada Geese mating, and an Osprey that caught two fish in one dive. Unfortunately, the Osprey dropped the second fish before we were able to photograph it. Leaders: Mike Hannisian and Nancy Watson.
Spring Migrants at the Rea Farm - Saturday, March 31, 2012
CMBO first of the season Spring Migrants at the Rea Farm - The threat of rain did not materialize and we did get a few migrants. A flock of 4 Great Egrets, 4 Black-bellied Plover with 1 Dunlin, and 3 Greater Yellowlegs flew over. One Palm Warbler was seen, as well as 6 Blue-winged Teal. Higbee Beach Bird Walk - Friday, March 30th, 2012

unless you know where to go! On this morning's first Higbee walk of the
season, we headed straight for the beach and were confronted with wall to
wall Gannets and a supporting cast of up-close Red-breasted Mergansers,

Birding Cape May Point - Wednesday, March 28th, 2012
A mighty breeze was blowing off the bay throughout our walk which mostly kept the songbirds tucked out of sight, but the Northern Gannet show more than made up for it as they cut arcs right around Cape May Point. Migrant Ospreys were evident and the over-wintering - though very elusive - Orange-crowned Warbler and Yellow-breasted Chat were nice bonuses. Dense fog and the threat of rain; it must be time for another Saturday Photo Walk. This week we were again "blessed" with the soft light that comes with fog. This made bird photography challenging, especially because it was hard to see birds that were not very close, but the Canada Geese did not disappoint. Likewise, this year's thistle plants, apparently of various species, are becoming more obvious. And at this time of year, last year's Cattail seed heads offer photo ops in many places, especially since the Phragmites are being, at least to some extent, reduced in number. Leader: Mike Hannisian.
