Above Par Birding at Cox Hall Creek WMA - Sunday, August 13th, 2017

We encountered a couple of mixed feeding flocks on this morning's first-of-season CHC walk. In addition to quite a few Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, there were American Redstarts, Pine and Yellow Warblers and Black-and-white Warblers, many feeding high enough to make us complain of 'warbler neck'. We felt sorry for the Chipping Sparrow feeding the larger cowbird fledgling but not nearly as bad for it as for the Purple Martin being swallowed by a very large black rat snake high in a tree! Leaders: Kathy Horn, Roger Horn, Janet Crawford, Cindy Bamford, & Shaun Bamford.
