A truly summery Higbee's Beach this morning on this, our last spring walk of the year at the site. Balmy, sunny weather, singing Indigo Buntings, Yellow-breasted Chat and Prairie Warblers, flowering Hairy Vetch and my first Calico Pennant dragonfly of the year all hinted that summer is about to arrive. After the group had left, I went back to the first field to take some quick photos and that male Blue Grosbeak we had all hoped for was singing his little head off - typical!!
