Birds of Belleplain - Thursday, April 19, 2018

Despite some light drizzle and less-than-optimal birding conditions, participants joining 'The Birds of Belleplain State Forest' excursion enjoyed 48 species including first-of-year birds and territorial/breeding displays. The very first Prairie Warbler, Blue Grosbeak and multiple Ovenbirds of 2018 were observed, promising much more to come in ensuing weeks. Territorial Eastern Meadowlarks were observed chasing one another at alarming speeds while American Kestrels were observed in two locations.
