It's like midsummer turning to fall at the State Park. Fledgling Purple Martins are out and about, brown-tinged young Terns are hanging out at the beach, speckle-breasted robins are in the woods and shorebirds are feeding along pond edges. The Little Blue Heron is white now, and the seven young Wood Ducks back on Al's Pond didn't look quite as spectacular as they soon will. The American Avocet, reported to be at the Meadows earlier in the morning, was a real treat to see on Bunker Pond at the end of the walk. Leaders: Kathy Horn, Roger Horn, Karl Lukens, and Kyle Chelius.
