Once again, early morning rain stopped in time for our walk, with gradual clearing and sunshine by the end. We started on the dune crossover and found little variety on the beach. As we started down, a distant humpback whale was spotted! A few lucky participants saw it breach. On the ponds we had good looks at immature Green Heron, Blue-winged Teal, Belted Kingfisher, and a Pied-billed Grebe. We ended with a fine kettle of raptors which afforded us comparisons between Sharp-shinned, Cooper's, Broad-winged, and Red-shoulder Hawks. Leaders: Catherine Busch, Chris Marks, Nancy Watson, Marc & Lynne Breslow, Janet Crawford, and Mary Watkins.
