South Cape May Meadows - Monday September 12th 2011

Several varieties of ducks, and a few shorebirds here and there. Lots of terns including three late Least Terns. Two Bald eagles, several Merlins, American Kestrels, as well as Sharp-shinned and Cooper's Hawks. Interesting was a pair of Royal Terns overhead squabbling over a fish which one dropped on the path in front of the group. It was a six-inch Bluefish!

A dozing Least Sandpiper on South Cape May beach. Most birds are now these lovely, fresh youngsters.

Second-calendar year Lesser Black-backed Gull with American Herring Gulls and a brutal Great Black-back!
