CMBO Birding Cape May Point Walk. The varied habitats at Cape May Point State Park generally make for good birding. This morning was no exception. Bunker Pond was loaded with waders, 37 Great Egrets, a Little Blue (imm.), a Snowy Egret, Glossy Ibis, Green Heron on the Plover Pond and many shorebirds. Three calling Royal Terns was also a treat.
In the wooded area we found a young female Pine Warbler and a bright Yellow-throated Warbler - an obvious migrant. Although we did miss the Yellow-breasted Chat and Blue Grosbeak (they have been quiet lately), we finished the walk with three Wood Ducks and three up close Black-bellied Whistling-ducks at the blind on Lighthouse Pond.
