and less-than-optimal birding conditions, participants joining 'The Birds of
Belleplain State Forest' excursion enjoyed 48 species including first-of-year
birds and territorial/breeding displays. The very first Prairie Warbler, Blue

Monday Morning at the Meadows-A cold, damp, cloudy start with temperatures in the upper 30s, wind approx. 6 mph. We began listening to wimpy calls from a pair of Bald Eagles. There was still a variety of ducks. From the beach we saw Northern Gannet and one Lesser Black-backed Gull. We were treated to a great show from a pod of Bottle-nosed Dolphin including adults and young. They were close to shore, actively feeding and breaching.
