Warbler sightings were low today at CHC WMA but woodpeckers were
plentiful, in large part due to the many migrating Northern Flickers. CHC has a
lot of large old trees which provide excellent habitat for woodpeckers and we
had four species including the usual Downy and Red-bellied plus the recently
returned Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. Eastern Towhees have started to call again
after a long period of silence and Brown Thrashers can be heard almost
everywhere.
