[Merlin plucking blackbird by Karl Lukens.]
Location: Cape May Point
Observation date: 1/29/11
Notes: CMBO Cape May Point Walk-KL,SW,DL,MH,+1.Clr,30°,W8. Some open
water on the ponds provided good looks at Mallards and Am. Wigeon, with a
few others like Ring-necked, Ruddy, Pintail, Hooded Merganser, and Shoveler.
Saw a perched Red-shouldered Hawk while hearing another, but the highlight
was a young Merlin on a pole plucking a recently caught female Blackbird.
