Birding the Meadows - Monday, July 10th, 2017

A nice variety of birds were seen and heard this morning. We had singing and flyover Indigo Buntings, flyover Orchard Oriole and American Goldfinch. On the beach we had two Lesser Black-backed Gulls, and four American Oystercatchers. A few shorebirds are beginning to show up including Short-billed Dowitchers, a few least and Semipalmated Sandpipers, and about eight Lesser Yellowlegs. The highlight was a Virginia Rail in a fairly open area only 15-20 feet away. Leaders: Pete Dunne, Chuck Slugg, Karl Lukens, Steve Weis, Janet Crawford, Barb Bassett.
