Cold weather and darkness ended the Saturday afternoon walks for this season. Birds are still around including many species of ducks such as Eurasian and American Wigeon, Hooded Merganser, Ring-necked Duck, Ruddy Ducks, Northern Pintails, Mallards, Northern Shovelers, Gadwall, Bufflehead, and Blue- and Green-winged Teal. We also saw an American Bittern, Tundra Swan, and Pied-billed Grebes. Other birds of interest were Northern Gannet, Parasitic Jaeger, Double-crested Cormorants, and several large groups of Scoter.
