Breeding Birds at the Garrett Family Preserve - Saturday, June 8, 2019

The wind was keeping the birds down this morning, but it didn't stop them from singing. Orchard Orioles and Indigo Buntings were especially persistent singers and the Chats were also vocal but very skulky. Common Yellowthroats and Willow Flycatchers however allowed us scope views while they were singing - always a treat!

Breeding Birds at the Garrett Family Preserve - Saturday, June 1, 2019

The Orchard Orioles are doing a lot of singing and sitting up these days at the Garret Family Preserve, as is the Blue Grosbeak. The Yellow-breasted Chats are vocal enough but really elusive, allowing only brief glimpses before diving for cover, then popping up again for another brief look. A nice surprise was two Willow Flycatchers calling from treetops and providing us with great scope views.
