Higbee Beach Birding - Friday, September 12th, 2014

Weather forecasts promised a busy day at Higbee Beach and they weren't too far wrong. A slight swing away from northwest prevented a really big fall, but there was certainly plenty for us to enjoy. Warblers put on a good show with Red-eyed Vireos accompanying them. A Philadelphia Vireo was a little brief but seen by many, while an interesting find was a Brewster's Warbler - a hybrid between Blue-winged and Golden-winged Warblers. Parties of Cedar Waxwings and Baltimore Orioles drifted overhead and an early trickle of raptors filtered through. Two Yellow-billed Cuckoos fed low in some Black Walnuts and Veeries checked out the ripening grapes.
