EZ Birding - Tuesday, September 9th, 2014

A storm offshore, cloudy and windy conditions, and light rain at the start of the walk did not deter our intrepid group of mostly novice birders. We started with a survey of the large numbers of gulls and terns waiting out the storm on the beach, enjoyed the buoyant flight of a continuing Black Tern over Bunker Pond, marveled at the sight of a Glossy Ibis with a white feather track along it's left wing, and were surprised to find a Black-bellied Plover on the beach with most of it's breeding plumage intact. Although it was mostly quiet in the park, a perched Merlin, and a small mixed feeding flock of warblers and vireos provided a satisfying end to our walk. Leaders: Catherine Busch, Chris Marks, Lynne Breslow, and Nancy Watson.
