Cox Hall Creek Bird Walk - Sunday, April 20th, 2014

Though the wind was strong enough to keep many birds hunkered down at Cox Hall Creek WMA this morning, there was ample opportunity to bird by ear. A vocalizing Yellow-throated Warbler foraged high in a pine close to a silent Pine Warbler. In other areas, Pine Warblers trilled softly compared to the louder, longer songs of the many Chipping Sparrows. A Yellow-bellied Sapsucker whirred softly as it dove into a cavity and Blue-gray Gnatcatchers challenged the group to hear their airy buzzes. Leaders: Kathy & Roger Horn, Janet Crawford, Cindy & Shaun Bamford.
