Birding Cape May Point - Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014

There was some good offshore viewing with numerous Northern Gannets, Surf and Black Scoter, Red-throated Loons, and a fly-over Common Loon. The ponds contained two Tundra Swans, as well as Ring-necked Ducks, Bufflehead, Lesser Scaup, one Northern Pintail, and ten Green-winged Teal one of which was an Eurasian Teal. A good number of Great Blue Heron were seen, either fly-overs or in the ponds, with one Little Blue Heron on Bunker Pond. In with the Tree Swallows were a couple of Northern Rough-winged Swallows and a Purple Martin. The back woods contained at least four Pine Warblers--some of them singing. Leaders: Mike Crewe, Karl Lukens, Megan Crewe, Steve Weis, Warren Cairo, Chris Marks, and Hugh Simmons.
